Master data

Products

Here you manage every product you place on the market — with packaging data, materials, substances and images. Reguly uses this data in every compliance workflow: from the DOC to the DPP to quantity reporting in the packaging register.

What does a product consist of?

A product in Reguly has three layers:

  • Identity: Name, category, GTIN/barcode, product image.
  • Packaging: Per product one or more packaging components (e.g. PET bottle + label + cap).
  • Substances: List of contained substances — important for SVHC assessment and food-contact compliance.

Step by step: create a new product

  1. 1

    Open Products

In the dashboard under 'Master data → Products'. You see a table of every existing product with status: complete / incomplete / inactive.

  2. 2

    New product

Click 'New product'. Reguly opens a wizard that walks you through the required fields step by step.

  3. 3

    Fill in identity

Product name, category (Reguly suggests categories from existing products), GTIN. When you have no GTIN, you can add it later.

  4. 4

    Create packaging components

Click 'Add component'. Per component you enter material, weight, recyclate share and supplier. Example: PET bottle 25 g, 30% recyclate, supplier 'Müller Plastics'.

  5. 5

    Add substances

When you use SVHC-relevant or food-contact-relevant substances, enter them here. Reguly has a search index of all registered substances — you pick instead of typing manually.

  6. 6

    Upload images

Upload product photos (at least one frontal shot, optionally detail shots). They appear in the DPP and on the brand page.

  7. 7

    Save

Click 'Save product'. Reguly automatically checks which compliance workflows are immediately runnable for this product (e.g. 'DOC can be created').

Bulk creation via CSV

When you want to create many products at once (e.g. during the first Reguly onboarding), use the CSV import:

  1. 1

    Download the template

Click 'CSV import' → 'Template'. You receive a CSV with all columns and example rows.

  2. 2

    Add data

Fill in your products in Excel/Google Sheets. Keep the column names unchanged.

  3. 3

    Upload and review

Reguly validates the CSV and shows error rows. Corrected rows you can edit directly in the browser.

  4. 4

    Import

With 'Confirm import' all products are created in one step. Reguly automatically links suppliers when the name matches.

Write the GTIN as text

Excel likes formatting GTINs as a number and dropping leading zeros. Format the GTIN column as text before entering values — otherwise they get lost.

Product detail page

Click a product in the table to open its detail page. Beyond master data you also see:

  • active DOCs and their versions,
  • active DPPs and scan stats,
  • linked suppliers and pending data requests,
  • quantities reported to the packaging register per quarter,
  • complete audit log of all changes.

FAQ

What about different packaging sizes?
Create one product per size when packaging data differs (e.g. 0.5 l and 1 l bottle). When only the quantity changes, you can capture sizes as variants within a single product — saves duplicate input.
Can I deactivate products instead of deleting?
Yes. 'Deactivate' removes the product from active workflows but keeps existing DOCs and DPPs valid. Ideal for products leaving the assortment but staying in the audit trail.
Are deleted products recoverable?
Deleted products stay 30 days in the recycle bin and can be restored. After that they are removed permanently — only the audit log remains.
How do I update hundreds of products at once?
Use the CSV export (download all products), make changes in Excel and re-import the file in 'Update' mode. Reguly only updates changed fields.
