DPP

Manage product passports

As soon as you publish a DPP, it lives on here: you manage QR codes, download print templates, update content, archive old passports and see how often each individual passport was scanned.

What you find under 'Product passports'

  • Table view of all your passports with status (published, deactivated, archived), GTIN, scan counter.
  • QR code download in multiple resolutions (PNG 300/600/1200 dpi, SVG, PDF).
  • GS1 Digital Link: Reguly automatically creates a standard-conforming URL — compatible with scan apps and authority readers.
  • Edit passport with live preview and versioning — old versions remain visible.
  • Delete passport or deactivate — printed QR codes then show a maintenance or archive page.

QR-code workflow

  1. 1

    Open passport

Click the desired passport in the list. The 'QR code' tab shows a preview and download options.

  2. 2

    Pick resolution

For small packaging 300 dpi PNG is enough; for print sheets we recommend 600 dpi or SVG (scales lossless).

  3. 3

    Pick format

PNG for print, SVG for layout software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign), PDF for final artwork.

  4. 4

    Check GS1 Digital Link

In the 'Link configuration' tab you check which URL the QR code opens. Default: https://reguly.eu/p/{GTIN}/{batch}.

  5. 5

    Test scan

Click 'Test scan' to verify the QR code with a scanner simulation — you see the final consumer view.

  6. 6

    Download print template

Reguly creates a print template with QR code, GTIN and minimum spacing — fits straight into your layout software.

GS1 Digital Link explained

A GS1 Digital Link is a standardised URL format that contains the GTIN of your product. It typically looks like:

https://reguly.eu/01/04012345678901

The advantage: the link works as a QR-code payload AND a barcode EAN at the same time. Authority scanners, consumer apps and older POS systems all understand it. Reguly configures this automatically — you do not need to worry about anything.

No GTIN?

When your product has no GTIN, you can have one generated in master data. GS1 also issues numbers directly — we link to the right place.

Editing a passport — what changes for printed QR codes?

Most important note: The QR code stays the same — it always points at the Reguly URL with the GTIN. What changes is the content on that URL: when you update and publish the DPP, every consumer sees the new version on the next scan.

Versions are stored in a history. Auditors can review older versions on request — important when a conflict arises ('In 2024 we still had 20% recyclate, today it is 30%').

Scan statistics

When your plan includes analytics, you see per passport: how often was it scanned? from which countries? which devices? at which time of day? This data helps you assess marketing campaigns — e.g. whether a poster or magazine ad actually drives scans.

FAQ

What happens when a passport is deleted?
The passport is deactivated and the URL shows a 'passport no longer available' page for 14 days. After that it is removed from the database; printed QR codes lead nowhere. We recommend deactivating rather than deleting.
Can I use one QR code for multiple passports?
No — every passport has a unique GTIN-based URL. When you have a product family, you can show a 'choose variant' selection in the passport and direct consumers to the right variant.
Are the QR codes accessible?
Yes. The consumer view is responsive, screen-reader friendly and available in high contrast. We regularly test against WCAG 2.2 AA.
What if the QR code gets damaged?
Reguly uses error-correction level 'H' (highest). Even at 30% damage the code is still readable. For extreme damage, simply re-apply the label — the URL stays the same.
